SE Electronics sE 2200a II C
The sE2200a II Cardioid or as it is noted on the microphone itself sE2200a II C replaces the best-selling and multi-award winnning sE2200a large diaphragm condenser mic from sE Electronics.
The sE2200a II Cardioid is the single pattern version of the recently launched sE2200a II Multi-Pattern (this mic was launched at Winter NAMM 2012 and has replaced the Z3300a in the sE Electronics family). So why change the classic sE Electronics sE2200a mic which has been used on so many classic tracks and albums such as Amy Winehouse’s ’Back To Black’? The sE2200a was Amy’s main vocal mic.
The simple is answer is that we haven’t (significantly) - the sE2200a classic sound remains. The sE2200a II C features the same custom, hand-crafted 1" gold-sputtered diaphragm as the first generation sE2200a. The sE2200a II Cardioid features a low cut bass filter, 10dB pad and comes complete (for a limited period) with our new universal, black shockmount.
Many recording engineers have told us that they prefer the black, rubberised texture of our new mics so the sE2200a MK2 has been given a face lift with sE’s custom black rubber paint finish, which is both stylish and practical, helping to damp chassis resonance which many competitor microphones suffer from.
The sE 2200a II C is the latest in sE Electronics’ lineage of sE2200 condenser mics dating back to the year 2000 (sE2200 > sE2200a > sE2200a II). It is highly unusual for a microphone series at this price point to be used in so many professional studios, and at such a high level... that’s because, like all of our mics, the sE2200a and now the sE2200a II Cardioid, have been built to the standards you’d expect from the top ’boutique brands’ like Neumann, but cost only the same as the mass-automated produced microphones from other well-known brands.
