Überblick

USB Host-auf-MIDI Wandler für "Class Compliant" USB MIDI-Geräte.

Damit kann man z.B. MIDI-Controller oder USB-Klaviaturen, die nur über einen USB-Anschluss verfügen, mit MIDI-In und MIDI-Out nachrüsten. USB-MIDI-Controller können so nicht nur an der Rechner, sondern auch an andere Geräte mit klassischer MIDI-Schnittstelle angeschlossen werden.

Details

Dein USB-Gerät wird an den "USB MIDI Host" statt an einen Computer angeschlossen. Geräte, wie Keyboards oder USB-Controller die nur einen USB TypB-Stecker haben, werden so mit MIDI In und MIDI Out nachgerüstet. Benutzt man zum Beispiel das USB-Solo zusammen mit dem USB MIDI Host, so kann man das USB-Solo in ein Standard MIDI-Setup integrieren, ganz so wie Kentons ProSolo.
Das Gerät hat einen USB-Anschluss, einen MIDI-Eingang und einen MIDI-Ausgang. Daten, die an der MIDI-In Buchse ankommen, werden an das USB-Gerät geschickt. Daten vom USB-Gerät werden an den MIDI-Ausgang gesendet.
Das angeschlossene USB MIDI-Gerät MUSS "class compliant" sein.

Der USB MIDI Host wird über ein reguliertes, externes 5V-Netzteil mit Strom versorgt und kann bis zu 500mA Strom über die USB-Leitung zur Verfügung stellen.

Compatibility

Look for a ‘generic driver’ setting, your device must be class compliant. Some devices (notably Roland devices) have a setting for an ‘advanced’ driver, if your device has this setting turn it off. Most EDIROL products have this setting on by default and can be made to work by changing it – refer to the manual.
Check for firmware updates. Some Novation controllers/keyboards can have their firmware (software) updated and will work with the new version. This may only apply to the the Remote Audio, LE or SL series, and not the 25/37 models.

We have seen a recent tendency for a few keyboards to incorporate a USB hub. Unfortunately keyboards with built-in USB hubs will NOT work with the MIDI USB Host. You can recognise a device with a built-in USB hub as it will have one or more USB "A" (rectangular) sockets as well as the "B" (square-ish) type normally found on a device. The "A" type sockets are the same as those found on your computer. Devices with only a "B" socket will normally be OK if they are "Class Compliant".

The following keyboards are known to incorporate a USB hub and therefore will not work with the MIDI USB Host:

Korg Microkey 61
Korg Microkey 49
Korg Microkey 37

The following keyboards, although "Class Compliant" do not work with the MIDI USB Host: M-Audio Keystation 37 (we haven't yet got to the bottom of why this one won't work)

To the best of our knowledge all other "Class Compliant" USB MIDI keyboards do work.
